Matt is the only coach at GFP to go full circle. In his high school and college years Matt was an athlete of GFP and even trained with Vince before the facility was in place. Matt was born and raised in Summit, NJ where he played both football and baseball. As a senior captain his leadership on and off the field granted him honors in the school’s athletic scholarship department. He still shows his passion for sports not only in training athletes at GFP but by playing in a wood bat baseball league. He has been a volunteer assistant coach for the Summit High school football team since graduating.
His college years were spent in East Lansing, MI where Matt attended Michigan State University. There he received a B.S. in Kinesiology Exercise Science. He also completed a cognate in Fitness Leadership and a specialization in health promotion. Matt is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. For fun, Matt played on the college club hockey team.
The relationship Matt developed with the GFP staff as an athlete led him to complete 2 internships at GFP in the summers of 2011 and 2012. As a young student in the field Matt spent his time as an intern learning from the staff. His passion and hard work awarded him an apprenticeship position in the fall of 2013 which eventually led to the full time strength and conditioning coach position he holds today.
Matt’s main role is to coach in our athlete performance programs and the team speed and agility training programs. He also plays a large part in coaching the middle school smart beast program and adult fitness.
